Hobby Lobby Moving from Mundelein to Vernon Hills

Company officials announced that the Mundelein store will close; Hobby Lobby will open in Vernon Hills in the first quarter of 2013.

Hobby Lobby Stores, a privately held retail chain of arts and crafts stores, is relocating its Mundelein store to Vernon Hills. A for the . The move is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2013.

“The rationale for this move is to increase exposure of our store in a high traffic area. The Mundelein location opened January 1999, and new facility will enhance our customers’ shopping experience by providing a wider and more abundant selection of merchandise," stated John Schumacher, Assistant Vice President of Advertising.

Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., headquartered in Oklahoma City, OK, started as an outgrowth of Greco Products, a miniature picture frames company founded in a garage by David Green in 1970. Today, Hobby Lobby has over 500 stores across the nation that average 55,000 square feet in size. This major Oklahoma City-based private corporation offers more than 65,000 crafting and home decor products in its stores. Departments include floral, fabric, needle art, picture framing, baskets, home accents,arts and crafts, wearable art, jewelry and scrapbooking supplies. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and all Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sunday.
