Snickelfritz Toys to Participate in Neighborhood Toy Store Day

The store, located in Westfield Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills, will offer customer discounts and a visit from Santa.

Snickelfritz Toys at Westfield Hawthorn Mall will celebrate the third annual Neighborhood Toy Store Day Nov. 10 with customer discounts, game and product demonstrations, and even a visit from Santa.

"We use it as a great time to have a party and celebrate," said spokeswoman Rachel Bailey. The celebration will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Located on the lower level near JC Penney, the locally-owned Snickelfritz is home to unique toys and games for children of all ages. For Neighborhood Toy Store Day, customers can enjoy a 20 percent discount on the toys that were selected as the Best Toys for 2012 by the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association, said Bailey.

Five representatives will be at the store to demonstrate various games and products. The store will provide complimentary popcorn, and Santa Claus will stop by for a visit. Bailey said parents can bring their cameras should their children wish to have their picture taken with Santa.

Because it's Veterans Day weekend, Snickelfritz plans to donate 10 percent of its Nov. 10 sales to the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Healthcare Center in North Chicago, Bailey said. Families are encouraged to donate their leftover Halloween candy, which will be donated to an organization that ships the candy to troops overseas.

Children can also write letters to the troops, Bailey said.

Snickelfritz will also hold a raffle. If a customer makes a purchase over $20, he or she will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a free toy, Bailey said.

"It's just going to be great fun for the whole family," she said. "Start your Christmas shopping and help a good cause at the same time."
