Walgreens Says It's Not Planning a Move

Despite what Crain's reported Thursday, the company says it's not currently negotiating a move out of Deerfield for its corporate headquarters.

Walgreens is working to assure employees, the media and the Village of Deerfield that it is “not engaged with developers” in planning a move of its corporate headquarters to downtown Chicago, despite a Crain’s Chicago Business article Thursday that said it’s doing just that.

The company said it will send a memo to all employees Friday refuting the Crain’s claim, according to an article in DNAinfo. Crain’s said the company was in negotiations to move to the Old Main Post Office, which spans across the Congress Parkway feeder ramp to the Eisenhower Expressway. “The Village is in regular dialogue with Walgreen Management and we are strongly committed to supporting Walgreen's continued presence in Deerfield. The Village recognizes and appreciates Walgreen’s on-going multi-million dollar investment in their Deerfield campus, including the recent addition of Walgreen University. This would support that the headquarters employment base will remain here for the foreseeable future. The Village has received confirmation from Walgreen that they are not engaged with developers on any new locations for their corporate headquarters.”
