Obituary: Adele L. Odom

Services have been scheduled for Adele L. Odom of Vernon Hills.

Adele L. Odom, 65, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Woodstock. Adele was born Nov. 5, 1947, in Chicago, grew up in Tinley Park and has lived in Vernon Hills since l980. She was a former legal secretary for Paul Simon in Chicago and retired from the Hawthorn School District 73. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Libertyville and enjoyed her flower gardens, playing the piano and classical music. Adele was active in the Vernon Hills community, was a former Brownie leader and Cub Scout den mother. Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Dennis Odom; children, Kelly Odom of New York, N.Y. and Matthew (Melissa) Odom of Lockport; her brother, Stan (Cynthia) Zobac; and sister, Lila (Mike) Lombardia. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave., Libertyville. Interment will follow in Willow Lawn Memorial Park in Vernon Hills. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Les Turner ALS Foundation, 8142 N. Lawndale Ave., Skokie, IL 60076.
