Obituary: Barbara Jean Peterson

Barbara Jean Peterson, 82, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

She was born Jan. 10, 1931 in Waukegan, grew up in Libertyville, where she was a 1948 graduate of Libertyville High School. She raised her family in Wheeling and also lived in Vernon Hills for 23 years. Barbara enjoyed sports and was especially a fan of the Chicago Bears. She was loved by all who knew her and her children, grandchildren and their families meant everything to her.

Surviving are her children, Rex (Linda) Peterson of Venice, FL, Monty Peterson of Wheeling, Karen (Bob) Westrich of Lincolnshire and Amy (Pat) Kamins of Libertyville; nine grandchildren, Courtney, Amy, Kristi, Brian, Scott, Brad, Jenny, Julie, Matthew, and great-granddaughter, Cece; and her sister, Joann Spears of Arlington Heights. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Dowden in 2012.

Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. (Route 176, one block west of Milwaukee Avenue), Libertyville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30 in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, Maple and Douglas Ave. Libertyville. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
