Obituary: Michael John "Mickey" McCarthy

Michael John "Mickey" McCarthy, 73, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Highland Park Hospital. He was born Nov. 26, 1938, in Chicago, and had been a resident of Gurnee since 1975. He was a US Marine Corps veteran and was member of the Vietnam Veterans. Michael was a retired animal control officer for the city of Skokie. Surviving are his son, Michael James McCarthy (Beth Krumrey) of Round Lake Park; his brother, Frank Butera of Michigan; and dear friend, Annie Wells of Villa Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darleen McCarthy on Sept. 2, 2009. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services with full military honors at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home Ltd., 120 W.
