State Rep. Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, is inviting constituents to join her and her staff on Sunday, Sept. 22 at the Buffalo Grove Farmers Market. Visitors will be able to share their thoughts, ask questions, and say hello, while enjoying all the market has to offer.
“Hosting a table at the farmers market is another way for me to remain accessible and available, engaging with concerned citizens about issues that are most important to them and their families, while also helping support local farmers,” Sente said. “Whenever residents can keep their dollars in Illinois, it not only helps the state, but fellow Illinoisans. The only way to make our great state stronger is by working together.”
In Springfield, Sente has supported a number of bills designed to help support Illinois farmers, one of which was recently signed into law. House Bill 1272, now Public Act 98-0341, designates the first Saturday of each month as “Eat Local, Buy Illinois Products Day.” The law aims to bring about awareness of local foods, restaurants that serve local foods, and Illinois products, in hopes that individuals will then purchase them and create a more sustainable community. For more information, please contact Rep. Sente’s constituent service office at (847) 478-9909.
