After announcing last December that he was considering a bid for attorney general in 2014, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, of Libertyville, said he now intends to seek a third term as sheriff, reported the Daily Herald.
“I have decided to run for re-election for Lake County Sheriff. I have been entrusted for the past six years with the responsibilities as Sheriff of Lake County. This opportunity has allowed me to work alongside outstanding law enforcement professionals as well as to serve and protect the wonderful people of Lake County,” said Curran in a prepared statement, reported the Lake County News-Sun.
“We have much to accomplish going forward and I am excited for the challenges that lie ahead of us as well as proud of our achievements over the past six years,” said Curran.
Curran, a former Lake County Assistant State's Attorney, Senior Felony Prosecutor and Special Assistant United States Attorney, was elected sheriff in 2006.
