Police Blotter: Battery, Retail Theft Arrests

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Sept. 27 to Oct. 7.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Battery

Michael Hugh Jacobson, 50, of 335 Alpine Springs Drive, Vernon Hills, was charged with battery Oct. 1 on the 300 block of Alpine Springs Drive. He was also cited for criminal damage to property. He was turned over to the Lake County Jail.

Possession of a Controlled Substance

Kristina L. Koopmann, 22, of 6736 Derby Drive Unit O, Gurnee, was charged with possession of a controlled substance Oct. 5 on the 100 block of East Townline Road. Police said she was found to be in possession of prescription narcotics. She was remanded on $10,000 bond.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Daniel D. Rudnicki, 19, of 107 Midway Lane, Vernon Hills, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia Oct. 4 at the Arbor Theater, 50 N. Fairway Drive. He was released on a notice to appear in court Nov. 14.

Retail Theft

Nicholas R. Blocker, 28, of 69 Timber Lane, Lindenhurst, was charged with retail theft Sept. 27 at Target, 313 E. Townline Road. Police said he left the store without paying for just under $200 worth of electronics. He was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond. 

Kelsey M. Gershbein, 20, of 83 Jansen Lane, Vernon Hills, was charged with retail theft Oct. 1 at Kohl's, 235 N. Milwaukee Ave. Police said she left the store without paying for $72 worth of clothing. She was released on a notice to appear in court Nov. 14.

David Guzman, 20, of 775 Westmoreland Drive No. 101, Vernon Hills, was charged with retail theft Oct. 3 at Walmart, 555 E. Townline Road. Police said he left the store without paying for an audio cable valued at $9.88. He was released on a notice to appear in court Nov. 14. 

Jimmi D. Hingu, 31, of 1203 Goldfinch Lane, Antioch, was charged with retail theft Oct. 4 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for just over $507 worth of clothing and jewelry. She was released on $150 cash bond pending a Dec. 12 court date.

Peter G. Angelos, 58, of 1206 E. Fairview St., Arlington Heights, was charged with retail theft Oct. 5 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said he left the store without paying for clothing. He was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending an Oct. 22 court date.

Two individuals were charged with retail theft Oct. 6 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said the women - Vanessa J. Carrera, 26, of 327 Walnut St. No. 123, Mundelein; and Eva M. Carrera, 67, of 3337 Ernest St., Franklin Park - left the store without paying for just over $96 worth of perfume. Both were released on a notice to appear in court Nov. 14.

Tracy G. Hansen, 33, of 310 Rosedale, Round Lake, was charged with two counts of retail theft Oct. 7 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $597 worth of clothing, jewelry, cosmetics and accessories. She was remanded on $10,000 bond.

Theft of Lost/Mislaid Property

Pedro Escobar, 30, of 1444 Downing Place, Mundelein, was charged with theft of mislaid property Oct. 1 at Walmart, 555 E. Townline Road. Police said he took a customer's phone. A woman, Magda Jaramillo, 35, of 1444 Downing Place No. 208, Mundelein, then carried the phone out of the store in her purse, police said. Jaramillo was charged with theft of lost property. Both were given Nov. 14 court dates.
