Police Blotter: DUI; Endangering the Life of a Child

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from May 26 to June 2.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

DUI

Juan Antonio Falcon, 41, of 965 Westmoreland Drive, No. 1, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol June 2 on the 1100 block of Downing Place in Mundelein. He also was cited with DUI with a blood-alcohol content greater than .08, not having insurance, not having a valid driver’s license, improper yield and improper right turn. He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond pending a June 20 court date.

Endangering the Life of a Child

Stacy Salome Castro-Montenegro, 28, of 670 Westmoreland Drive, No. 304, Vernon Hills, was charged with endangering the life of a child June 2 on the 600 block of Westmoreland Drive. She was released on $150 cash bond pending a June 20 court date.

Warrant

Brian A. Schmidt, 32, of 250 Leisure Living Drive, Elkton, Va., was arrested May 26 on a Sangamon County warrant for larceny. He was turned over to the Lake County Jail.

Theft

A 12-year-old boy was charged with theft May 30 at Hawthorn Middle School South, 201 W. Hawthorn Parkway. Police said the boy took candy from a teacher's desk. The boy was released on a notice to appear.
