Police Blotter: Predatory Sexual Assault of a Child; Retail Theft Arrests

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Oct. 22-28.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Retail Theft

Sophia Boyko, 18, of 1908 Beverly Lane, Buffalo Grove, was charged with retail theft Oct. 22 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $143 worth of clothing and jewelry. She was released on $120 cash bond pending a Dec. 13 court date.

Li Su, 22, of 22 Lindon Lane, Vernon Hills, was charged with retail theft Oct. 23 at Walmart, 555 E. Townline Road. Police said he left the store without paying for nearly $393 worth of electronics. His court date information was not available.

Skyler PA Howard, 26, of 1822 Bittersweet Lane, Mount Prospect, was charged with retail theft Oct. 24 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $25 worth of clothing. She was released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 13.

A 13-year-old boy was charged with retail theft Oct. 26 at Walmart, 555 E. Townline Road. Police said he left the store without paying for a can of spray paint. He was released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 13.

Theft

Honorio V. Cena, Jr., 46, of 1031 S. West Ave., Waukegan, was charged with theft Oct. 23 at Target, 313 E. Townline Road. Police said he completed fraudulent transactions to take money from the register. He was released on $150 cash pending a Nov. 28 court date.

Predatory Sexual Assault of a Child

Jacob P. Hagemann, 85, of 310 Greenbrier Lane, Vernon Hills, was charged with predatory sexual assault of a child Oct. 26 on the 300 block of Greenbrier Lane. Police said he sexually assaulted a juvenile family member. He was also cited for criminal sexual assault and not having a valid Firearm Owner's Identification Card. He was remanded on $750,000 bond.

Drugs

Alexander R. Argast, 19, of 445 Kennedy Place, Vernon Hills, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia Oct. 27 near Hawthorn and Lakeview Parkways. He was also cited for not having a rear registration light. He was released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 13.

Alcohol

Miguel Morales, 24, of 710 Longfellow Lane, Mundelein, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Oct. 28 near Allanson and Butterfield Roads. He was also cited for BAC over .08, not having a valid drivers license and making an unsafe lane change. He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond pending a Nov. 28 court date.

Traffic

Angel L. Hernandez, 21, of 220 Longwood Terrace, Mundelein, was charged with not having a valid drivers license Oct. 28 near Route 45 and Stone Fence Road. He was also cited for illegal transportation of alcohol and making an unsafe lane change. He was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending a Dec. 13 court date.
