Police Blotter: Retail Theft Arrests; Warrant

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Jan. 2-6.

Attempted Possession of a Fictitious ID

Thomas B. Merritt, 19, of 515 Cambridge Lane, Lake Bluff, was charged with attempted possession of a fictitious ID Jan. 4 on the 100 block of West Townline Road. Police said he attempted to purchase alcohol with a fictitious ID. He was also cited for attempted possession of alcohol by a minor. He was released on a $150 cash bond pending a Jan. 25 court date.

Retail Theft

Darylinn A. Geisen, 42, of 503 Cherry Valley Road, Vernon Hills, was charged with retail theft Jan. 5 at Walmart, 555 E. Townline Road. Police said she left the store without paying for just over $78 worth of electronics. She was released on a notice to appear in court Feb. 14.

Two girls, ages 15 and 16, were charged with retail theft Jan. 5 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Police said they left the store without paying for $132 worth of merchandise. They were released on a notice to appear in court Feb. 14.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with retail theft Jan. 6 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said he left the store without paying for a wallet valued at almost $15. He was released on a notice to appear in court Feb. 14.

Two women were charged with retail theft Jan. 6 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Arrested were Maria G. Cabral, 46, and Brenda Cabral, 20, both of 713 W. Highland Terrace, Round Lake Beach. Police said the women left the store without paying for a hat. They were released on a notice to appear in court Feb. 14.

Warrant

Brian J. Esch, 26, of 721 N. Lakeside Drive, Vernon Hills, was arrested Jan. 2 on a McHenry County warrant for filing a false police report. He was released on $1,000 cash bond pending a Jan. 8 court date.
