Police Blotter: Retail Theft, Drug Arrests

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Aug. 24-30.

Retail Theft

Diana J. Santos, 18, of 96 Fox Lane, Wheeling, was charged with retail theft Aug. 24 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $115 in wallets and cologne. She was released on a notice to appear in court Sept. 13.

Two boys ages 14 and 15 were charged with retail theft Aug. 26 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said they left the store without paying for $39 and $35 worth of cologne, respectively. They were released on a notice to appear in court Sept. 13.

Gabriela B. Callejas, 20, of 1654 Partridge, Waukegan, was charged with enhanced retail theft Aug. 27 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store on Aug. 15 without paying for $220 worth of clothing. She was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending a Sept. 17 court date.

Alcohol

Imran Abbas, 21, of 272 W. Camargo Court, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Aug. 27 near Routes 21 and 45. He was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage. He was released on $1,000 bond and his drivers license pending a Sept. 19 court date.

Drugs

Arjun R. Shah, 22, of 324 S. Southgate Drive, Vernon Hills, was charged with possession of cannabis Aug. 27 near Routes 21 and 45. He was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a notice to appear in court Oct. 11.

Two boys ages 16 and 17 were charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia, respectively, Aug. 30 in a parking lot on Court of Spruce. Both were released on a notice to appear in court Oct. 11.
