Police Blotter: Retail Theft, Obstructing a Police Officer

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Nov. 19-22.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Drugs

A 14-year-old girl was charged with possession of cannabis Nov. 19 at Vernon Hills High School, 145 S. Lakeview Pkwy. She was released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 12.

Garrett M. Loseau, 21, of 213 Knollwood Lane, Vernon Hills, was charged with possession of cannabis Nov. 19 near Aspen Drive and Townline Road. He was released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 12.

Obstructing a Police Officer

A 16-year-old girl was charged with obstructing a police officer Nov. 20 on the 300 block of Ashwood Court. She was referred to juvenile court.

Retail Theft

A 16-year-old boy was charged with two counts of retail theft Nov. 20 at AT&T, 445 E. Townline Road. Police said he attempted to take phones from the store. He was also cited for attempted retail theft and criminal damage to property. He was referred to juvenile court.

Two individuals were each charged with three counts of retail theft Nov. 21 at Toys R Us, 555 E. Townline Road. Arrested were: Monica Orozco, 21, of 70 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove; and Alma Diaz, 26, of 870 Old Willow Road No. 254, Prospect Heights. Police said Orozco left the store without paying for just over $165 worth of items, while Diaz left the store without paying for just over $97 worth of items. Both were remanded on $10,000 bond.

Emmanuel A. Perez, 25, of 240 E. Court of Shorewood No. 5, Vernon Hills, was charged with retail theft Nov. 21 at Target, 313 E. Townline Road. Police said he left the store without paying for nearly $124 worth of Christmas items. He was released on $120 cash bond pending a Dec. 12 court date.

Jasmine Barrera, 21, of 1033 Tamarack Lane, Libertyville, was charged with retail theft Nov. 22 at Old Navy, 701 N. Milwaukee Ave. Police said she left the store without paying for nearly $297 worth of clothing. She was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending a Dec. 19 court date.
