Police Blotter: Retail Theft, Warrant Arrests

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

Charles N. Rosset, 25, of 229 Tally Ho Drive, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Dec. 28 on the 300 block of West Townline Road. He was also cited for BAC over .08 and speeding. He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond pending a Jan. 23 court date.

Alejandro Morales, 34, of 436 N. Pershing Ave., Mundelein, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Dec. 30 near Greenleaf Drive and Butterfield Road. He was also cited for aggravated fleeing and eluding, BAC over .08, speeding, not having insurance, not having a drivers license, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol. He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond pending a Jan. 23 court date.

Luis A. Olivares-Lopez, 31, of 622 W. Park Ave. Unit C, Libertyville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Jan. 1 near Milwaukee Avenue and Ring Drive. He was also cited for speeding and failure to signal. He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond pending a Jan. 23 court date.

Drugs

A 15-year-old girl was charged with possession of cannabis Dec. 27 on West Townline Road. She was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on a notice to appear in court on Feb. 14.

Retail Theft   

Edgar Marin-Perez, 22, of 5257 Hollyhock, Gurnee, was charged with retail theft Dec. 22 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Police said he left the store without paying for $76 worth of cologne. He was released on $120 cash bond pending a Jan. 10 court date.

Nicole S. Heidbrick, 25, of 25744 Gilmer Road, Mundelein, was charged with retail theft Dec. 22 at Walmart, 555 E. Townline Road. Police said she left the store without paying for nearly $120 worth of video games. She was released on $150 cash bond pending a Jan. 16 court date.

Patricia Castano, 49, of 6705 E. Wellsley Court, Gurnee, was charged with enhanced retail theft Dec. 23 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for just over $117 worth of clothing and food. She was remanded on $10,000 bond.

Cameron J. Fleming, 21, of 1312 Kettering Road, Mundelein, was charged with retail theft Dec. 28 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said he left the store without paying for almost $25 worth of electronics. He was released on a notice to appear in court Feb. 14.

Irlanda Bermont, 41, of 2020 Linden Ave. Unit 2B, Waukegan, was charged with retail theft Dec. 29 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for close to $58 worth of clothing and food. She was released on $120 cash bond pending a Feb. 14 court date.

Two 17-year-old boys were charged with retail theft Dec. 31 at Walmart, 555 E. Townline Road. Police said they left the store without paying for nearly $15 worth of liquor. They were released on a notice to appear in court Feb. 14.

Warrant

Ricardo Ruiz, 35, of 58 S. Archer Ave., Mundelein, was arrested on a Cook County warrant for probation violation Dec. 21 near Fairway Drive and Lakeview Parkway. He was turned over to the Lake County Jail. He was also cited for not having insurance, failure to yield and having a suspended drivers license. He was released on $200 cash pending a Jan. 10 court date.
