Police Blotter: Thefts from Department Stores, Mariano's

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

ALCOHOL

Sara E. Dougherty, 18, of 210 S. Deerpath Drive, was charged with driving under the influence, illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, consumption of alcohol by a minor and unsafe lane change on Feb. 16 on Route 45 and Grosse Pointe Circle after police saw her drive off the roadway and onto the shoulder and smelled alcohol on her breath. Also charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor was Kyley L. Majmudar, 18, of 407 Farmingdale Circle. Majmudar posted a $1,500 recognizance bond, while Dougherty posted a $1,000 recognizance bond and her driver’s license. Both women were given March 6 court dates in Waukegan. 

POSSESSION OF STOLEN PROPERTY

Israel Sanchez, 19, of 401 Chestnut St., Mundelein, was charged with possession of stolen property and also arrested on a warrant on Feb. 13 on the 0-100 block of Shaddle in Mundelein after he was found in possession of a computer that was taken during a residential burglary. His court date was unavailable.

THEFT

Two female teens, ages 15 and 17, were charged with retail theft Feb. 11 at Sears in Hawthorn after leaving the store without paying for $49.99 in clothing and shoes. The 17-year-old was also charged with obstructing identification after providing false information about her identity. Both girls were referred to juvenile court. Their court dates were unavailable.

Julie J. Waryck, 21, of 26267 N. Highland Drive, Mundelein, was charged with retail theft, possession of hypodermic needles and possession of a controlled substance after she left Mariano’s without paying for $329.69 in alcohol and snack bars on Feb. 12. Police said she was also found with a hypodermic needle containing heroin and a burnt spoon. Her court date was unavailable.

Rhonda R. Rueben, 85, of 240 Audubon Way, Lincolnshire, was charged with retail theft and battery on Feb. 13 at Carson’s in Hawthorn after she left the store without paying for $112 in clothing, accessories and cosmetics. Police said she also battered the loss prevention agents who stopped her. Her court date is March 14 in Mundelein.

James W. Sisson, 44, of 2229 Wright Ave., North Chicago, was charged with retail theft Feb. 13 at Mariano’s after he left the store without paying for $53.98 in alcohol. He posted a $150 cash bond and was given a March 6 court date in Waukegan.

Kalan Evans, 20, of 2814 28th Place, Kenosha, Wis., was charged with retail theft Feb. 17 at Mariano’s after he left the store without paying for $119.98 in alcohol. He posted a $120 cash bond. His court date was not available.
