AAA Aims to Build Car Care Center Near Mariano's, Lowe's

The facility would offer services like oil changes and light car repairs.

A new business may soon be joining the shopping center that is now home to businesses like Mariano's, Lowe's and Starbuck's.

AAA representatives visited the Vernon Hills committee-of-the-whole meeting Dec. 18 to present a concept plan to construct a car care center on 1.08 acres on Milwaukee Avenue near Gregg's Landing. The facility would be located on the tract of land between the new Mariano's parking lot extension and the strip of businesses that includes Starbuck's and Panda Express.

J.Q. Freeman, senior vice president of MPV Properties, said the facility would offer services like oil changes and light car repairs.

According to village board meeting documents, the facility will consist of 7,790 square feet and the design is consistent with the rest of the shopping center. The business would be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Sunday, and could service between 20 and 30 cars per day.

Assistant Village Manager John Kalmar said the business will need require special use permit.
