The Lake County Chamber of Commerce will host its 6th Annual Forecast Lake County Luncheon, which gives business and government leaders an opportunity to examine and explore the issues, economic opportunities and challenges facing the county in 2013.
The luncheon, scheduled to take place at the Cuneo Mansion and Gardens in Vernon Hills, will begin with a half-hour networking opportunity for business attendees from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the program beginning at 11:45 a.m.
“This signature event clearly represents an opportunity for business leaders throughout Lake County to obtain a better perspective of our economy and the issues that may affect business trends in the coming year,” said Nathan Streeter, chairman of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce.
This year, the Lake County Chamber is pleased to welcome and introduce Rep. Brad Schneider, sworn in on Jan. 3, 2013 to serve Illinois’ 10th Congressional District.
For more than 20 years, Rep. Schneider, of Deerfield, has had a successful career in business and management consulting, advising companies large and small. As a small business owner, Schneider understands the impact thriving small businesses can have on a community’s overall economy.
William Strauss, Senior Economist and Economic Advisor for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago will return as the featured keynote speaker. This year, Strauss will provide a review of fiscal cliff issues, the struggling labor market and provide insight into the manufacturing sector which appears to have stalled in 2012.
“Strauss’ report has always been well-received and on-point in outlining steady factors that can signify economic growth and the challenges for business expansion and stability,” said Streeter.
Maureen Riedy, president of the Lake County, Illinois Convention & Visitors Bureau (LCICVB), will serve as emcee of the luncheon.
