Mosko Recognized for Service on Police Commission

Andrew Mosko is retiring after 16 years of service to the Vernon Hills Fire and Police Commission.

Andrew Mosko was honored Tuesday night with a plaque and a standing ovation by Vernon Hills officials who thanked him for his service to the village's Fire and Police Commission.

Mosko joined the commission in 1997 and he's served as its chairman since 2006. Commission members dedicate many hours to the position, conducting interviews and assisting with the testing process as the village hires new police and fire department employees. During Mosko's tenure, the department hired 27 police officers, officials said.

Mosko is stepping down as he prepares to move to Wisconsin. He was recognized at Tuesday's Village Board meeting with a proclamation from Village President Roger Byrne who summarized his efforts.
