This year, Small Business Saturday is on November 30th.

While shoppers are waking up at the crack of dawn, or camping out all night outside the mall, local store owners are prepping for Saturday with special deals and incentives to shop local.

Last year, Maplewood businesses were even featured on MSNBC.

“Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country,” American Express states on its website. “Founded by American Express in 2010, this day is celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.”

This is a great idea but pay cash- don't use an AM Ex card - I've heard Am Ex charges small businesses lots of fees, shrinking their profits. So this campaign is probably whitewashing on Am Ex's part but I'm glad to have the local business directory that they provide.
